The Conjunto Residencial do Parque Guinle is a set of three modernist blocks built inside the Parque Eduardo Guinle in Laranjeiras, designed by Lúcio Costa between 1948 and 1952. The three buildings — Nova Cintra (1948), Bristol (1950) and Caledônia (1952) — are reached from Rua Gago Coutinho on the lower side of the park.
Apartments run from 225 to 515 m² and include both single-level and duplex plans. The facades use pilotis, recessed roof terraces, cobogós and rosewood brise-soleil screens to control the sun while keeping the view onto the park; the landscaping is by Roberto Burle Marx. IPHAN listed the complex as protected heritage in 1986 for its place in Brazilian modernism, and the design won Lúcio Costa the collective-housing award at the 1st São Paulo Biennial in 1951.

Eduardo Guinle's park, fronting the Palácio Laranjeiras, set the terms: housing built inside a private park on a tight, sloping site. Lúcio Costa took the job and, across three buildings, worked out the vocabulary — pilotis, brises, cobogós, recessed terraces — that he would later carry into the residential blocks of Brasília.
Nova Cintra finished in 1948, Bristol in 1950 and Caledônia in 1952. The collective-housing award at the 1st São Paulo Biennial in 1951 confirmed the work as an international reference while Caledônia was still going up. IPHAN heritage listing followed in 1986; since then changes have been limited to individual apartment interiors, since the facades, brises and Burle Marx landscape are protected.
