Where Clarice Lispector wrote her final novels
Landmark buildingThis apartment building at Rua Gustavo Sampaio 88, in the quiet beachfront neighborhood of Leme, was the home of the writer Clarice Lispector for the last years of her life.
Lispector bought apartment 701 here and lived in it from the mid-1960s until her death in 1977. A plaque at the entrance marks the building as her home, and Leme — which she called "minha terra" (my homeland) — keeps a statue of her on the seafront nearby.

It was in this apartment that Lispector wrote much of her late work, including her final and best-known novel, A Hora da Estrela (The Hour of the Star), published in 1977.
