This house at Avenida São Sebastião 131, in the calm bayside neighborhood of Urca, was the last home Carmen Miranda had in Brazil before she left for the United States and Hollywood stardom.

Urca sits at the foot of Sugarloaf Mountain and was home to the Cassino da Urca, where Carmen Miranda performed as the casino's star attraction. A plaque on the house marks it as her former residence.

Carmen Miranda lived at many addresses across Rio from childhood, but the Urca house was her final Brazilian home before emigrating in 1939 to become one of the highest-paid entertainers in the United States.
